The narrator, Marion Brown, takes the reader through the in's and out's of O Henry's character of "Man About Town". The narration is based mainly on Chapter 8, but it spreads its wings wide across the character's life and his outlook on life; how society perceives him and how he presents himself across. As you listen to the narrative, you immediately catch a glimpse of how the author (and probably the public) strive to figure out, using "Man About Town's walk-abouts" what women generally carry in their suitcases; the fountain of knowledge that the man might be possessing; his enthusiasm about social life "At 6 o'clock everyday, life begins with him"; and generally the manner in which he allows events to shape and instill him "A new sensation in his breathe in his nostrils". Through the agility of the author and the matching eloquence of the narrator, you - the recipient - don't only get the sense of being man-about-town but you also feel injected with the urgency to be where the positive wave of life rolls along.
